Shiftfaced Podcast

Shiftfaced is Vancouver-based industry pros Tony and Sam’s approachable take on wine education in podcast form. No pretentiousness. Want to learn about wine and have a laugh? This podcast is for you. Drinking and nerding out about wine!

Who are we?
Tony and Sam are two wine lovers and restaurant industry professionals living and working in beautiful Vancouver BC, Canada.
Tony grew up in Vancouver and currently works as a Bartender and Manager at an upscale restaurant in downtown Vancouver. His educational background is in Business, having earned a degree in Finance from the University of Ottawa in 2014. After briefly suffering through the Monday-Friday, 9-5 shtick, Tony decided to retire his Finance cap (much to his parents’ dismay).
Sam was born in Toronto, raised in suburban Southern Ontario, and has lived in Vancouver since July 2015. She works as a Junior Sommelier at a one of Canada’s top restaurants. Sam has two bachelor degrees in Anthropology and Psychology from the University of Ottawa (2011 and 2015, respectively) which are currently collecting dust in her closet.
The pair met in 2009 working as servers at a buffet-style restaurant in the busy tourist area of Ottawa known as the Byward Market and they began dating in 2011. The easy decision to move to (or back to, for Tony) Vancouver was made as soon as they had both finished school. Once settled in Vancouver, Tony and Sam both decided that they would continue to work in the service industry in a more professional and dedicated manner. They have both completed their Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Level 3 and intend on continuing to pursue wine, spirits, and beer education. Mama always said education was important!
On their days off Tony and Sam regularly dine and imbibe around the city. Whenever possible, the two take frequent vacations to many of the wondrous places BC has to offer such as Whistler, Tofino, Mayne Island, Kelowna…
Living the dream one shift at a time!
